Our History
Preparing Our Pupils Academically and Socially
Brief History
Hilly-Grace Centre was established in 2003, fully registered under the laws of Ghana. It was founded by Mrs. Hilda Binka who had the vision of bringing true and valuable education to the doorstep of children, as well as providing a home for her pupils whose parents had travelled abroad or had to travel on work assignments without their children.
The initial set-up provided Creche, Nursery one, Nursery two, KG one and KG two services mainly specializing in building the solid foundation of the children for their future success. Due to the continuous success of the school in building successful children, parents requested for an expansion to include Basic school so that their children would complete the basic school with Hilly-Grace. In the year 2015 to 2019, there was an expansion in the physical structure to be able to accommodate the basic school, a separate library and an Information Technology Centre.
Thereafter in the year 2020, basic school commenced. From the year 2003 to 2020, the school was managed by the Proprietress, Mrs. Hilda Binka and Mrs. Priscilla Dameh. From the year 2020 onwards, the school was managed mainly by the Proprietress with the support of a teacher. Hilly-Grace Centre runs the Ghana Education Services curriculums and is affiliated with the Department of Social Welfare, the National School Inspectorate Authority, Accra Metropolis Directorate of the Ghana Education Service, the Ayawaso East Association of Private Schools and the Ghana National Association of Private Schools.
Hilly-Grace Centre runs programmes that reflect the cultural diversity of the students so that each student will appreciate the other’s culture. This includes the food that the various cultures enjoy, the tribal dances and their respective festivals. There are programmes such as the heritage week which reflect the heritage of the nation Ghana. There are special extracurricular clubs that teach Beadmaking, sewing and cookery. The total number of children currently stands at 70. Hilly-Grace Centre has put innovations in place that will help the children identify their classroom knowledge in the environment and interact with the environment knowledgeably.
